What is a Task?
EFT-Kappa tracks task progression in Tarkov, a task is a quest. These terms may be used interchangeably.
Task Status
A task can have three states:
- Active
- A task is considered to be active when it is not Completed or Failed in Tarkov
- All tasks start as active, you do not need to meet the prerequisite requirements or level requirements for a task for it to be active
- Complete
- A task is considered to be complete when it is Completed or Failed in Tarkov
- Ignore
- A task that is ignored is special and does not correlate to any state in-game
- Ignoring a task will remove it from formula calculations on the EFT-Kappa site
- A special event task chain for
pre-wipe
is a good example for why you would ignore a task- A temporary task from an event may be picked up by EFT-Kappa, and it could persist well beyond the lifetime of the task in-game
Task Status and the UI
Setting a task's status will impact different UI elements in specific ways. Generally active tasks are shown on all pages and complete/ignore tasks will be hidden. Most pages will provide the ability to filter out information based on task state.
- Dashboard
- All complete and ignore tasks are hidden in the dashboard
- Task Item Page
- Items will be hidden if they are a requirement for a complete or ignore task
- Task Graph
- Tasks will be hidden by default if they are complete or ignore
- You can toggle a setting to show complete tasks
- you can toggle a setting to show ignore tasks
- The UI will do its best to resolve broken prerequisite chains for complete and ignore tasks
